My Food Philosophy

I focus on using whole food sources to meet nutritional needs rather than relying on expensive, artificial supplements. I work to demystify the kitchen for those who feel 'culinarily challenged' and educate my clients to become smarter shoppers. Everyone has a unique diet that will work best for them, and my work with clients helps to identify the ideal diet for the individual. 
 
Beyond food, I also stress the importance of finding balance between work and play, physical exercise and nourishing relationships. When dissatisfaction, fear, anger, sadness or boredom exist in any area of one's life, food easily becomes a drug for escape and ceases to be a nourishing source of energy and creativity. I provide tools to my clients to help manage stress, recognize harmful patterns and learn new behaviors that support increased vitality and the confidence needed for goal attainment.


Me, a Health-Conscious Foodie

In January 2007, I began practicing as a private health coach and healthy cooking instructor.  Having completed the Professional Training Program at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York, I am certified through Columbia University Teachers College and the American Association of Drugless Practitioners as a Holistic Nutrition Counselor.  

Through coaching, classes and workshops, I support men and women in a variety of health goals such as losing weight, increasing energy, enhancing fertility and eating for a healthy pregnancy.

Because nutrition is still an evolving science, I keep up on the latest diets and changes in the food supply industries, as well as how food relates to our biochemistry, our psychology, our culture and our entertainment.  It is important and helpful to recognize how these aspects are connected.

Having grown up in a culture that celebrates the pleasure of eating good food, I believe that healthy eating should never come at the expense of good taste!  As a self-taught home cook, I am constantly experimenting in the kitchen on new recipes; looking for the perfect balance between healthful nourishment and fulfilling flavor.
